Party in the Park

The committee have had many requests for a return of the popular "Party in the Park". We had to stop holding the event as we did not have enough volunteer stewards.
The committe would love to see the event run again but this would depend on enough volunteers from the village to plan and run the event.  The format of the event would certainly be different from previous years due to the changes in the licensing laws.  If you would like to be a part of the committee to plan and run this event please contact Alan Ball on (01823) 433983

Play Park Improvements

The equipment in the Play Park has seen better days and it was hoped to renew all of it this year. Unfortunately, some of the money we were depending on to do this will now not be available for a couple of years so we now have to do the work in two phases. The first phase is expected to be carried out in the latter part of this year.

Car Park

The car park was resurfaced and white lined according to plan.  What a difference it has made. Please look at the bottom of the page for pictures.

The Village Hall Management Committee would like to thank Triangle magazine, Somerset County Council (Cllr. Wolverson), the Parish Council, and others that have asked for no publicity for their generous contributions towards the cost of the project.

The result of these donations is that only a small proportion of the total cost has to come from Village Hall funds.

Planned improvements to the Village Hall

Since learning that our bid for lottery funding was not successful the committee have decided to split the planned improvements into two phases. The first of these will be the new small hall and corridor as these would be the most beneficial for the running of the Village Hall. The building of the stage will be held over until next year when the next rounds of grants become available.  In the meantime we will be looking for possible sources for funding of the stage and also trying to secure donations locally.

Update. The Committee has been successful in obtaining two grants which is approximately half of the funds required for the first phase.
We await the results of a grant application for the remaining money.

Snooker Club

Membership to the Snooker Club has fallen over the last year.  With rising costs, i.e. rental of the hall and repairs, unless more members join and existing members use the club more, this facility could cease in the foreseeable future. If you would like to join please contact Chris Fitt 433210 or Paul Wearmouth 433512.
